Jumping, counting and learning

“It is never too early to learn maths and counting while having great fun at the same time.

“The children were so excited when our first set of wooden number blocks arrived—and so were we, the teachers!

Very quickly, the children started exploring the numbers by moving them around and jumping from one to the next. It wasn’t long before they began making up their own games, using the wooden blocks as stepping stones.

“As well as introducing basic number concepts, these blocks help our little ones develop balance, motor skills, and spatial awareness—all of which are essential for early development.

“When I asked who wanted to test them out, all the children were keen to help. Tasimia, aged 5, said she loved jumping from block to block without falling into the imaginary river surrounding them. Wisie, aged 4, loved standing on the blocks because it made him feel almost as tall as his older brother. Meanwhile, Tryness, also 4, spent ages rearranging the blocks into a zigzag pattern. Children truly are the best testers for new play equipment!

“It means so much to everyone at Future4all pre-school that Mwana provided the grants to commission our local carpenter, Phillip, to make these blocks. Phillip crafted them with great care and attention, ensuring they are safe, smooth, and perfect for our young learners.

We are incredibly grateful to all of Mwana’s donors in the UK. Every donation, however small, is used with love and care here in Malawi.
