We start the new term with lots of hope and dreams for our little ones.
Like millions of learners around the world, our young children are preparing to take their very first steps into preschool, while others are returning to us for one final year before they transition to ‘big school’. It is a time mixed with excitement and a touch of anxiety for everyone: the children, their parents, and our teachers. I am sure you are familiar with that exact feeling.
We all hold hopes, dreams, and visions for what the future of our children and our communities will be. Our job as educators is to plan for this—to ensure that what we offer our little ones gives them the strongest possible foundation as they begin their school journey.
Some of our children arrive already filled with a love of learning and sparks of natural curiosity, while others have yet to develop them. Very few join us with strong communication and language skills, so this is an area we nurture immediately through storytelling, singing, and daily conversation.
All of our children come from within a community where life is challenging and often very harsh. We all struggle with the extreme poverty here in Mangochi—parents, carers, and children alike. Because of this, we want them to completely forget about the harsh realities of life the moment our children step through the doors at Moana.
Our classroom has a warm and welcoming feel to it now as we had a complete repaint- thanks to all Mwana donors – last term.
We open our doors in September ready to transform big dreams into bright futures.
Thank you to you all for being with us on this journey. Follow our stories over the next year to learn how your generous donations are used by us and impact on the lives of our children.
