Now you know a word in Chichewa – the local language in Malawi. Mwana means ‘little one’ and we’re delighted to be partnered as a pre-school benefiting from the huge andwonderful generosity of people from the UK donating money to our early years centre – known as Future4all.
My name is Loges and I run the pre-school here in Ntechu.
As I turn the corner from my home each day I see the queue of little excited children waiting to be let into the nursery. They are with us for a day of learning, playing and exploring with their friends. Pre-school is new to our village – we know how important early development in children is – so we started this school in 2024. In fact the numbers grew so much we have now opened a second pre-school in the next village too.
“Mwana means little one”
Being part of the Mwana community we are grateful for funds to help us resource
these centres for our little children. We buy as much as possible locally including books, games and arts and crafts materials. Mwana recently paid for outdoor play equipment.
We employed a local carpenter to create swings and a climbing frame. The children love it – as do we when we see the joy it brings to their lives.

We thank you – we know that there are many competing demands on who you donate to and are grateful that you consider donating to Mwana. We will send regular news back to Derbyshire with updates on how our children are thriving thanks to the generosity of people like you.
Zikomo (now you know another word in Chichewa, Thank you!)
